Tranquebar: Women’s self-help groups that are given access to micro-credit and trained in micro-business etc. The women are very good at supporting each other and solving problems together.

Kindergartens and tuition centres for children providing them with an education and helping them get over their post-tsunami traumas.

Restoration of 10 old Indian houses. Making locals aware of the value of protecting their heritage. Establishing a local Heritage and Development association and opening a Bestseller office in one of the buildings.

Education of female masons. As part of their training, they will restore the 10 buildings (see above). Other income-generating projects for women are planned.

Building of a combined school/project house in the centre of Dalit (untouchables) villages. 

Coastal protection in the shape of plantation and a stone barrier. In co-operation with the Danish Tranquebar Association. Establishment of a tropical park along the coastline.

Garbage collection/composting project to make the panchayat (municipality) clean and green, which is very rare in India .

Building three concrete bridges so that children can pass the deep canals on their way to school safely (paid for by the employees of Bestseller Denmark). 

Govindpura:
School project. The school is up and running and now the focus is on better education esp. in English and computer
A scolarship programme to give poor children from underprivileged families an opportunity to go to school

Delhi:
Bestseller has taken over the production of bags made of plastic collected from the streets of Delhi. This project creates jobs for poor people and solves a pollution problem.

Nirona/Bhuj/Gujarat:
The Bestseller Fund supports a design school for original handicraft. Focusing on educating local artisans within micro-business, design, production and marketing so that they can get a better price for their product.

Erukattanchery:
Building a shcool/project building for Dalit children and women groups.

Varanasi:
Planning a project to help the weavers of Varanasi where we help them produce more contemporary products for new markets.
