City Solution of the year 2008

20 November 2008, Bestseller will open the first super store in Copenhagen. The 2,000 m2 store has been under way for four years while the building has undergone renovations.

In connection with the opening of the store, real-estate developer, Absalon & Co decided to nominate Bestseller for ‘City solution of the year’ along with clothing company Abercrombie & Fitch and restaurant Nimb. On 1 October 2008, Bestseller was announced as the winner of the award.

The reason why Bestseller won the award is that the new store will hopefully attract many new international brands to Copenhagen and thereby contribute to the development of Copenhagen’s retail business.

Along with the award came DKK 100,000, which were passed on to the children in an accommodation centre for asylum seekers called Sandholmlejren. The money will go to making everyday life better for children who may end up spending a long period of time waiting for asylum.
