Paralympics

The Paralympic Games are competitions held for athletes with disabilities. Although these games do not share the ancient history of the traditional Olympic Games, they are the next biggest sports event in the world.

Bestseller’s Olympic collection was also seen at the Paralympics which took place from 6 to 17 September 2008 in Beijing.

Together with Danish Organisation for Disabled, Dansk Handicap Idrætsforbund, Bestseller decided to provide the Danish athletes at the Paralympics with an Olympic collection.

“As Olympic partner it is natural for us to provide a collection for the Danish Paralympic delegation. At the same time, it is an exciting challenge for us. The project is similar to one of our projects in Hong Kong where the Bestseller Fund work with a textile center, that develops clothes and devices for disabled in co-operation with the Polytechnic University in Hong Kong, says managing director in Bestseller, Anders Holch Povlsen.

Since its formal start in 1960 in Rome, the Summer Paralympic Games have grown drastically from just 400 athletes from 23 countries to more than 4,000 athletes from around 150 countries who competed for the medals at the Paralympics in Beijing.
